Target F501
More than ever made for any mission.
Discover the vast capabilities of the Target F501, designed to detect and identify a wide range of radiation sources. This advanced device excels at detecting gamma, beta, neutron, and cosmic radiation emitted by both natural and man-made sources. With its exceptional precision, it can identify special nuclear material as well as industrial, medical, and naturally occurring radioactive sources. Additionally, the Target F501 enables accurate measurement of x-ray and gamma exposure, making it an indispensable tool for various applications.
The F501 represents the next stage in the evolution of the F500. Significant enhancements and novel discoveries have been seamlessly integrated into nearly every aspect of the F501. Of notable importance is the advanced identification algorithm, expanded connectivity with external devices, and heightened hardware reliability. These improvements solidify the F501 as a cutting-edge solution, delivering unparalleled performance and dependability.
Thus, a very good device became an even better Radionuclide Identifying Device (RID).
Handheld on steroids
Offering the best enclosure to detector size ratio.
This ultra-compact, rugged and sensitive Radionuclide Identifying Device (RID) provides superior usability by offering a wider energy range, higher throughput and better stability in a wearable handheld. A wide range of different 2" x 2" and 2" x 1" detectors are combined with high precision, high-speed digital electronics in an ergonomic lightweight and watertight aluminum enclosure.
Dimensions:
92 mm x 232 mm x 88 mm (3.62“ x 9.13“ x 3.46“)
Weight:
1,200 - 1,350 g (2.65 - 3.00 lbs) depending on detector
Quantum Gain Stabilization™
The F501 gain stabilization is unique as it does not need to rely on built-in or external sources or LEDs.
The novel patented stabilization is based on the measurement of the photon noise charge and compensates immediately and automatically gain shifts and temperature effects. The main advantages of this new method are:
- No internal radioactive stabilization source is interfering with the measurement.
- Better stability than LED stabilization used in other devices.
- Superior stability in every situation
By delivering unwavering performance in various conditions and environments, the F501 ensures the utmost accuracy in its results. This reliability not only minimizes false positives but also expedites decision-making in the field.
One detector for every purpose
A huge range of different detector materials are available
The F501 stands out as RID that offers an extensive range of detector material options. Each detector option has distinct advantages that make it ideally suited for specific applications. Nevertheless, there is one shared characteristic among all versions of the F501 - the inclusion of a single detector* capable of measuring gammas and neutrons across both high and low exposure rates. Gamma and neutron radiation are detected and analyzed by the unique analog and digital electronics in combination with the complex AI supported software.

Only one detector for a wide gamma range
Highly sophisticated analog and digital electronics make it possible for the first time to measure a wide gamma dose rate range without an additional Geiger-Muller counter.
The wide energy range from 10 keV to 10 MeV and a dose rate capability of 100 mSv/h is indispensable when it comes to field operations dealing with unknown threats. Minute radiation levels can be detected earlier, quicker and with higher accuracy than with other comparable hand-helds. Strong radiation sources are measured and identified even at mega-count per second input rates.
The trailblazing Finder
The newly developed Easy Finder mode supports the operator in searching for radioactive sources.
By alternating radial scanning, turning and moving forward the F501 collects and interprets data, then pinpoints the exact location of a source so everyone can easily navigate and respond to threats.
Perfect usability in any situation
Whether upside down or at night, the F501 is always optimally readable.
With a proven operational concept and a user interface designed to prioritize essential information, the F501 offers an intuitive and user-friendly experience. Notably, the device remains easy to operate even when positioned upside down, as its user interface seamlessly adjusts the orientation of its elements. This unique feature ensures effortless and secure operation of the F501, even when it is standing upside down on a desktop.
The crisp transflective high resolution display supports operation in bright sunlight as well as in the dark. The F501 in night mode allows working in total darkness without blinding the user.
Rugged Construction
Designed to withstand the toughest applications.
The device, which is completely sealed and waterproof, is excellently designed to perform effectively on land, water, and even underwater, withstanding diving depths of up to 10 meters and enduring drops from a height of 1 meter.
Easy Maintenance
Connect to the F501 via the integrated web interface.
Its multiple interfaces and the built in web interface allow reach-back operation. The interfacing mechanism also provides for secure remote maintenance and remote operation of the instrument. All measurements saved on the instrument (30 GB storage capacity) can easily be transferred without special software.
No extra software is needed to connect your computer to the F501. With any modern web browser you can download and organize measurement results, set up the instrument or remotely operate the F501.
Apart from that, the web interface contains the complete documentation, which can be displayed dynamically in parallel to the current mode of the F501, e.g. for training purposes.
If you don't own an F501, you can watch a demo of the web interface with simulated hardware and simulated sources here: http://f501-demo.target-sg.com
RIDcontrol™
App for remote control and configuration of the F501
Frequently, particularly in urgent situations, users may not have access to a computer to make essential modifications to the F501 or to download the generated data. Therefore, we have taken the possibilities of communicating with the F501 one step further and developed RIDcontrol™.
RIDcontrol™ is an app that can be used to remotely control, manage and configure compatible radionuclide identification devices (RID).
The app uses Bluetooth for the initial connection and allows the F501 to be integrated into an existing Wi-Fi network or to use the hotspot of the mobile device. Once the connection is established, any function available in the web interface can be used on the mobile device. The F501 can also be remotely controlled via the app, enabling unobtrusive monitoring and surveillance.
The app is available free of charge for iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
