Jürgen Stein establishes target systemelectronic gmbh in Cologne.
The firm develops, manufactures and sells the multi-channel analyzer series MATE and, soon thereafter, the TMCA product series. With the TMCA (target multi channel analyzer) production series plug-in cards, IBM AT computers are used for the first time as MCAs (multi-channel analyzers).
In the early 1990s, a new technological premiere, the PPADC, is introduced: A NIM Preamp/ADC unit that for the first time in the history of nuclear metrology scans detector signals with a sampling ADC and then processes the signal, all digitally.
This technology also constitutes the foundation for the fieldSPEC developed in the late 1990s. For the first time, this device integrates a complete measuring package (detector, amplifier, high voltage, ADC, DSP, MCA and evaluation software for nuclide identification) in one hand-held measuring device.
Owing to an increased demand from the USA, a subsidiary, target instruments Inc., is established in Oak Ridge (Tennessee) in 2003.
target systemelectronic and target instruments are integrated into the ICx company group, becoming ICx Radiation.
Meanwhile, the fieldSPEC, known throughout the world, is re-named. It continues as the world’s best selling device of its class under the name identiFINDER®. Additional measuring devices are introduced, such as the microRAIDER®, RAIDER® and radHUNTER® to complete this product range. The STRIDE® system product line is developed with the most comprehensive detection units available. This system addresses the building security and environmental monitoring fields, with the added, first time ever ability to track and localize moving radioactive sources.
* identiFINDER®, radHUNTER®, microRAIDER®, RAIDER® and STRIDE® are FLIR Inc. products not sold by Target Systemelektronik GmbH & Co. KG.
ICx Technologies is taken over by FLIR Systems. ICx Radiation becomes FLIR Radiation.
The devices developed to date are re-engineered to meet higher customer requirements. The identiFINDER®2, radHUNTER® and nanoRAIDER® are fitted with color displays, GPS, Bluetooth and USB. A new Windows CE software is developed which offers – apart from improved ease of use – the ability to implement significantly better analysis algorithms and therefore faster and significantly better measuring results.
* identiFINDER®2, radHUNTER® and nanoRAIDER® are FLIR Inc. products not sold by Target Systemelektronik GmbH & Co. KG.
Jürgen Stein establishes Target Systemelektronik.
In early 2014, Jürgen Stein establishes an independent company Target Systemelektronik GmbH & Co. KG. A very high percentage of the original target team of professionals chose to join Jürgen and address this new challenge. The focus of work of the Wuppertal-based company is the development of electronic units for high-resolution time and energy measurement of ionizing radiation. These instruments are used in medical radiotherapy and major research facilities.
